Ten individuals sentenced of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has convicted ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced accusations of spreading false claims regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to making hurtful comments about the husband and wife's significant age difference.
The court issued suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has not yet been published.
A persistent false narrative suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has been in circulation since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons pursuing a legal action for defamation in the US against political commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted similar conspiracy theories about the Brigitte Macron's identity.
Their lawsuit contends that Owens brushed aside all credible evidence contradicting her allegations choosing instead to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has frequently reiterated these claims on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her belief that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her future husband when she taught at his high school.
The pair married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
